Summer Break

It’s summer break for the students in Thailand. Many of our students have gone off to visit family or parents in other cities, or crossed into Myanmar. Leaving our class sizes at 1-2 per group. The ones that are still attending are getting extra attention as they come in groups of 1-2 instead of 3-6. Connections are being made on a deeper level and children are feeling God’s love as we spend time together. The ones who still come often don’t have anyone paying attention to them at home.

One set of cousins often miss during the school year because the people looking after them forget to bring them. This break they haven’t missed a day as they crave the attention that they get here. They often come early to spend time together and play with our toys or draw pictures. Their parents work in the city and they are hoping that the parents will come to pick them up so they can spend time together.

The older one saying that her mom was going to pick her up on Wednesday. Wednesday passed and she said that her mom would pick her up in April. After the first week of April she said that her mom would pick her up after the Songkran water festival next week. It breaks my heart to see her heart broken over and over each summer with hopes of spending time with her mother and the mother not realizing how much the girl wants to spend time with her. So, for now we’ll draw pictures and spend time together and they’ll know that here they’re loved.
