Home birth

Seven years ago, I gave birth to my first son at Kwai River Christian Hospital (KRCH). Since then, the hospital has moved to Sangklaburi and no longer offers delivery services, leaving women to rely on the government hospital where many policies felt uncomfortable to me—such as laboring without support, restricted movement, and shared delivery rooms.

When I became pregnant with Samuel, I prayed and decided to have a home birth, asking Tik, an experienced nurse from our team, to help. In the days before labor, I had several false contractions, but on the night of my due date, the real contractions suddenly began. Despite their inconsistency, they grew intense, and I called Tik, who arrived quickly.

Once fully dilated, I began pushing. With careful guidance from Tik, Samuel was born safely, albeit with the umbilical cord around his neck, which Tik skillfully handled. He began breathing and crying, and soon, my husband and I were left with our new baby, amazed at how fast it all happened—under two hours.
Looking back, I feel so grateful for God’s hand in guiding our decision for a home birth. It was the perfect choice, sparing us a stressful journey to the hospital. In the comfort of our home, we welcomed Samuel, experiencing a peaceful start to his life. Even now, weeks later, I am deeply thankful for how everything aligned so perfectly.
