Celebrating Valentine's Day with Children

Valentine's Day, also known as the Day of Love, is a time when people around the world express love and affection for those they care about. It's a perfect opportunity to help children understand the importance of love, both from friends and teachers, and to encourage them to show love to others. More importantly, it's a chance for them to learn about the true love that comes from God.

We had the children create their own sugar bags and decorate them as they liked. The idea was for their friends to place cards or any gifts they wanted to give into these bags. We gave them a week before Valentine's Day to complete this, so they would have ample time to express their love to their friends.

On Valentine's Day, we emphasized the true love that comes from God and referred to Romans 5:8 from the Bible, We told them that God loves everyone, even when we might not be lovable. God continues to love and forgive us. Importantly, God loves each child dearly. Therefore, we believe that on this Valentine's Day, the children experienced the love from God and their friends.

We prepared heart-shaped cookies, decorating them to look cute for the kids. They were happy to eat them, and we were happy to see their smiles. Before heading home, we had them take their decorated bags with them, and we also gave them robot-shaped candies. The kids were thrilled because they had never seen candy shaped like robots before.

Such celebrations help children learn about love of God, generosity, and sharing, making Valentine's Day a memorable occasion for them. 🌸❤️
